Bram spirits

A founder-led craft spirits brand entering a category full of fake heritage and gold foil. We went the other direction — restrained, almost severe packaging that lets the product carry the weight, backed by a digital home that feels like a private tasting room rather than a shop. Built to sit on a shelf next to brands ten times its size and win.

The problem

Bram entered a category drowning in fake heritage, gold foil, and invented family crests. As a genuinely new, founder-led craft brand, playing the same game would have made them invisible — one more imitation of an old distillery that never existed.

The challenge

The brand had to feel premium enough to justify the price and sit beside established names ten times its size, but do it without borrowing the category's tired signifiers. Restraint is risky in spirits, where shelf presence usually means louder, not quieter.

The solution

We went severe. Stripped-back, almost austere packaging that lets the liquid and the bottle carry the weight, with typography doing the heavy lifting instead of ornament. The digital home was built to feel like a private tasting room rather than a storefront — slow, considered, confident. The whole system trusts the product.

The impact

Bram secured listings in 18 independent bottle shops and three restaurant groups within the first six months. Direct-to-consumer conversion ran well above category benchmarks, and the restraint became the brand's most-commented-on feature rather than a risk.
